Gamefly Totally Sucks

Let's just get this straight right now: Gamefly, the "Netflix for games" rental service, is terrible. I've been a subscriber for a number of years, and amazingly, Gamefly has actually gotten WORSE over time. Yes, they have always had slow turnaround on shipping. But when I first joined, you could pretty much always get the games you wanted, even if you had to wait a while. These days, I wait 2-3 weeks for a game to be registered as a return, and about as long for a game to arrive. Plus, their sale selection, which used to be pretty good, is now remarkably limited. (Madden '06 for $7, people!) And the new releases, which used to be fairly easy to get, are now impossible to obtain. God of War II? Forget it. Super Paper Mario? Keep dreaming.

Here are some stats: Diddy Kong Racing DS returned and reported missing after 2 weeks. (They miraculously found it.) Disney's Meet the Robinsons shipped 4/14, still not yet arrived. (And this game was my fourth choice.) Flatout 2 purchased for $12 a few weeks ago, still hasn't arrived. Oh, and last I checked, there was a "short wait" for just about every game in my rental queue. Wow, that's really worth the $28/month. Looking forward to getting the Pokemon DS games some time in July...

(If you don't know me and think my taste in games is questionable, keep in mind that I'm checking out kids' titles on purpose.)

Put it this way, I don't even pay for Gamefly out of my own pocket (it's a work expense), and I still want to cancel. The enthusiasm couldn't be lower, people.

I totally agree, I have been a member for about 3 months and I am on the 2 game rental plan, my gf has had FFXII since April 2nd and still has it and that's fine, but when it comes time for me to rent something I want(mainly Xbox360 games) they are damn impossible to get ahold of, I mean ever since Earth Defense Force 3 and Bullet Witch came out they have been out of stock, I have never ever seen these two titles say "Available Now".

Then there was Crackdown, a game I had to wait a month and a half to finally have say "Available Now" WOW!! I finally rented something I REALLY wanted, so when I sent Crackdown back I wanted to rent the upcoming now yet released at the time, Spiderman 3, so I put it in my queue so it could ship to me when they got it, but that was weeks away so I rented Bully for PS2, BIG MISTAKE!!!

So I rented Bully and it was a great title but that was a time passer for SM3, so days are nearing for SM3 so I send Bully back 3 days before SM3 comes out, so I thought, Gamefly got SM3 2 days early and by the time Bully was returned it was Friday, so, SM3 was still on the status of Available Now, so I was cool, but when Monday morning comes can you guess what it said?

It said "High" yeah, it went from Now to high, but that was yesterday, and this is what is says when something says High.

"This game has a 75% or greater likelihood of shipping today. If you return a title and a High Availability game is at the top of your GameQ, we'll make every effort to ship you that game the same day. If we can't, we'll send the next available game in your GameQ."

Ok, this game has been in my queue for 2 weeks and Bully got back on time, but this morning I go see if it has shipped and it now says "Low", so I missed the Fn Boat!! So now with every other 360 game I want not in, I have nothing I want to rent, but I have to rent something, right?

Gamefly not only sucks but it fn blows!

Sincerely,
Michael.

Dude, I feel your pain. Gamefly is like Blockbuster in slow motion. The new games are never available. I've even tried to do that "mail a few days before release" trick, and that used to work. But not anymore...most games go from "available" to "forget about it" in less than 24 hours.

I am probably going to cancel my subscription as soon as I get the issues worked out. They refunded me the money on the game I purchased that never arrived, so that's a start.

Now today, I got one of the lesser games I wanted(had to choose it by force actually)so I received Tiger Woods 07 for Xbox 360, so I get it and play the tutorials and such, and as I start my career the damn game gives me a Dirty Disk Error, oh me, oh my!

So I report it to gaymefly and they are going to send me the next game in my queue(Bullet Witch, this is the first time I have seen it in stock)but I will bet the farm that by the time they get around to my request Bullet Witch will be long gone, I was up for some golf too. :(

Oh well, I will let my sub expire this month and just go to Hollywood Video instead.

Gamefly sucks balls.

Disappointed Gamefly Subber,
Michael.

Yeah, I just cancelled. I'm not even going to try to send the rented games back, I'll buy them. Stupid Gamefly.

I am in the process of exploring a class action lawsuit against gamefly. If you are interested in getting involved, send an e-mail to bakuganwholesale. the domain name is gmail.com

As a year+ member I couldnt agree more that they are getting worse. I've actually come across some information that serves as proof that they simply are raking in more money from new customers, but not using it to increase their inventory levels.

I agree, Gamefly just isn't worth it. It literally takes 5 days for them to send me a game, then 5 days back, God knows how long for processing, then 5 more days on new games. You literally end up paying 25 bucks a month to rent two games for 15 days at the most... I also do business with Netflix, and it takes a day at the most for a new movie to arrive.

I am a new member with Gamefly, and it takes AT LEAST seven days to get my next games. I'm about to cancel my membership, but first I'm going to see if I get reimbursed for my time and money wasted. Also, I reported them to the United States Postal Service, because they claim to have FastReturn. My local post office knows of the contract with Netflix, but there is not one with Gamefly. So there basically is NO FastReturn, its bullcrap!

This blog post is still getting random comments almost two years later. It seems that Gamefly has not improved at all. (Except for maybe west coast customers, who seem to have fewer problems.) Despite all these complaints, Gamefly is still the most prominent online game rental service. I have no idea how successful they are. But the fact that they still can provide this kind of lackluster service, during this economy, totally vexes me. I am terribly vexed.

GAME FLY SUCKS!

They lie alll the time. What is the point of having availability status if they are inaccurate.

I have the 2 game plan, I have 1 game out, none on my GameQ. I add a game a 2 weeks before release, when it goes to ship I don't get it sent out for almost 2 weeks post launch.

I have been a member for 3 years now and STILL can't get a new release even when adding 2 months in advance. WTF!!!

I mean show your loyal customers some priority. I write program code, and it aint rocket science to do that kind of shit. Not to mention THE TERRRRRIBLE SHIPPING TIMES.

I just signed up for netflix like 4 days ago on a Thursday. I had a movie saturday. 2 FREAKING DAYS!!! Yet the games I sent in Thursday have still not "updated" on gamefly's page. Even though they say "we ship game the moment the USPS registers a bar code. TOTAL LIE! HERE IT IS MONDAY AND I HAVE NO UPDATES TO MY QUE, NO UPDATE TO MY EMAIL, NOTHING!!!!

FORGET THIS GARBAGE AND MY COMPLAINING. I'M CANCELING MY SUBSCRIPTION RIGHT NOW.

I was a member for 5 months, and you can have a game out for 1 week and the when you return it your waiting sometimes up to 2 week for the following game. If you have a complaint its almost always i am sorry, but oh well.
